COLA Legacy Endowment
Legacy Endowment gifts include planned gifts such as a bequest in a will, charitable remainder trust, or outright gifts, such as cash, stock, property, or an IRA required minimum distribution. COLA’s Legacy Endowment is managed by the Eau Claire Community Foundation (more information).
Two Types of legacy funds
Donors to the COLA Legacy Endowment who want to support well-recognized and long-standing COLA needs should leave a bequest in their will or donate directly to one of the funds maintained by the Endowment. Two options are available.
Support the COLA Legacy Endowment by contributing to the the general-purpose fund, which is used to address COLA’s greatest needs. The COLA board of directors will allocate income from the general-purpose fund at its discretion. Funds will be used solely for the benefit of COLA and the Lac Courte Oreilles lakes. Those who have contributed to the COLA Legacy Endowment are recognized here.
Or, donors may want to consider starting their own named Legacy Fund. Examples include:
Recognition of those who have made lasting contributions to COLA and the LCO lakes
Support of specific projects benefitting the Lac Courte Oreilles lakes
Honor families or memorialize individuals. See an example - the Higbee Family Fund
COLA will help design the structure of a Legacy Fund to best fit its overlying purpose. A minimum donation of $25,000 is needed to establish a Legacy Fund.
After a Legacy Fund is established, additional contributions of any amount are accepted from the larger community of COLA supporters.
